There's more wild closer around the village in the past he's found, but hopefully Pikacu would have been able to help out if there's any trouble, at least enough to assist the girl in an escape if it's a worst possible scenario (but nobody wants that scenario). But the two end up bumping into each other fruitlessly, with the pokémon bringing nothing back but a shake of his head.
